The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) represents more than 30,000 members in over 200 chapters throughout the world, working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs. Founded in 1960,  the Association fosters development and growth of fundraising professionals and promotes high ethical standards in the fundraising profession.  AFP was formerly named the National Society of Fund Raising Executives and changed its name in 2002 because of its current international scope.

Members work with every conceivable type of group ?health, education, social services, the environment, animals and the arts, to name a few ?and are involved in every aspect of fundraising including: donor relations, board development, planned giving, and special events.  AFP is dedicated to ensuring that members have the necessary skills, knowledge and resources to work as effective professionals.

The Treasure Coast chapter was chartered in October 1994 with four members of the Palm Beach Chapter taking the lead to form a chapter to serve Martin, St Lucie and Indian River Counties. Over the years chapter growth led us to sponsor our Indian River members to form their own chapter in January 2007. We also assisted and co-sponsored the Brevard County Chapter in 2008. Several members hold dual membership in the Indian River or Palm Beach chapters. With an average of 50 members in Martin and St Lucie Counties, we are working to carry out a strategic plan for continued growth, diversity and education.

AFP is a community of people that are proud to abide by the AFP Code of Ethical Principles and Standards of Professional Practice. It is through this strong dedication to ethical fundraising that the profession can ensure public trust and confidence in the organizations that donors support.
