To strengthen philanthropy in Martin & St. Lucie Counties through professional development & ethical fundraising practices
National Philanthropy Day ®
National Philanthropy Day® (NPD) is a special day set aside to recognize the great contributions of philanthropy – and those people active in the philanthropic community – to the enrichment of our world. November 15 has been designated by the Association of Fundraising Professionals as the permanent date. This celebration provides an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of giving and all that it has made possible.
Initiated in 1986, National Philanthropy Day celebrates the endless daily contributions individuals, corporations and organizations across the world make to countless causes and missions. The event is coordinated by local chapters of AFP and held anytime in November. Through National Philanthropy Day, participants are able to show appreciation for all that has been accomplished in the name of giving, as well as show that there is still more to do. It’s a chance for AFP to step into the spotlight for a brief moment and remind our local communities, our society and the world, that the spirit of giving is alive and well.
The Treasure Coast Chapter held its first National Philanthropy Day event in 1995. It is scheduled annually during November to honor those who have contributed to the betterment of the Martin and St Lucie County community through their contributions to the non-profit organizations in our area.
To honor its many donors and volunteers, the Treasure Coast Chapter has established the following recognition categories: Individual Philanthropist, Volunteer Fundraiser, Corporate Philanthropist, Group or Foundation Supporting Philanthropy. Additional awards honor Legacy Gifts (Lifetime Legacy and Living Legacy) and, at the option of the Chapter President, the President's Award for the Spirit of Philanthropy.
