Three Seats at the Table
AFP's Three Seats at the Table welcomed estate planning attorney Todd Thurlow of Thurlow & Thurlow, PA, and Northern Trust Managing Director Kelly Buist, to share their expertise and help fundraising professionals better understand legacy planning, planned giving, and the importance of working together to support donors’ philanthropic goals.
From recognizing planned giving opportunities to building relationships with attorneys and financial advisors, we explored how to turn those “someday” conversations into meaningful, lasting impact.
Because at the heart of planned giving is something bigger than a will or a trust — it’s helping donors create a legacy that reflects what matters most to them.

Fundamentals of Fundraising Boot Camp
AFP Treasure Coast's Fundamentals of Fundraising Boot Camp welcomed nonprofit professionals from across the Treasure Coast for two engaging days of learning, collaboration, and professional growth.
Throughout the program, participants explored fundraising best practices, exchanged ideas, asked insightful questions, and built meaningful connections with colleagues who share a commitment to advancing the nonprofit sector. The energy and engagement in the room reflected the dedication of our local fundraising professionals to continually strengthen their skills and the organizations they serve.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to our generous sponsors, The Community Foundation Martin–St. Lucie and Children's Services Council of St. Lucie County, for their support in making this valuable professional development opportunity possible.
Breakfast and Gratitude with James Gavrilos
We were grateful for such a strong turnout at AFP Treasure Coast's recent breakfast seminar, The Art of the Thank You, presented by James Gavrilos, CFRE. Attendees explored how thoughtful, authentic gratitude can deepen donor relationships and inspire long-term support—along with practical ways to make every thank-you more meaningful and memorable. A special thank you to James Gavrilos for the inspiring presentation and HANDS of St. Lucie County for generously hosting us and providing a welcoming space for connection and learning.

This session delves into how Disney accomplishes so much, often on a limited budget. We will learn ways we can use Disney-like methods to create memorable, "wow" moments, emulate their standards of excellence and customer care and think creatively to craft better solutions for our donors. This session looks at the successes of Walt Disney and how we can apply his philosophy, his creativity and his approach to our mission and running our organizations.
